Well known for her work in journalism and broadcasting, Sally Magnusson is also a gifted writer of historical fiction, with her first two novels, The Sealwoman’s Gift and The Ninth Child, both receiving wide critical acclaim. Her most recent novel, Music in The Dark, follows a highland woman with a passion for story and song, who is deeply impacted by the brutality of the clearances, and who stands alongside her community in an act of defiance. Set over one night in Rutherglen outside Glasgow, but harking back over generations to a land much further North, this is a tale about surprising encounters, reconciling the past, and imagining a more hopeful future.
We can’t wait to hear from Sally as she chats with fellow author and journalist Maggie Ritchie about her latest novel and her career as a writer.
