Dean Atta’s debut poetry collection was shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. He was named as one of the most influential LGBT people in the UK by the Independent on Sunday. Dean has performed at arts and literature festivals across the UK and internationally. He has been commissioned to write poems for the BBC, Dazed & Confused, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. His young adult verse-novel, The Black Flamingo, was awarded the Stonewall Book Award 2020, and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, Jhalak Prize and YA Book Prize.
Dean will talk about the inspirations for The Black Flamingo and read from the book, followed by a Q & A session.

- Which class or classes will be taking part and how many pupils (please check guidance on numbers)
- Provide a 1st, 2nd and 3rd preference
Each school will be provided with at least one session based on their preferences as far as possible. Sessions should take place in the school library where possible.
